In this unique moment of need, we have launched an FJL alumni volunteer trip in partnership with Birthright Israel so that our alumni and friends can gather together from across the world to support the people of Israel and the Jewish People as a whole.

What is the cost of the program?

The program itself is fully funded by Birthright Onward Israel and FJL. You will need to pay a $50 registration fee and put down a 1,000 NIS security deposit that will be returned at the end of the trip.

What is the proposed itinerary?

We have put together a rough itinerary which may be subject to change.

Do I need to pay for my flight?

Birthright provides partial flight subsidies for all participants. They will be refunded directly to you through PayPal. We will be in touch as the trip gets closer about the process.

Where will we be staying?

Internships are available in a variety of sectors including business, finance, law, media, politics, hi-tech, and NGOs. Most of these will be based in the Tel Aviv area and are an ideal opportunity to build your CV and create a prestigious experience to aid future job applications. Due to the tight timeline and the nature of the off-peak season for many companies and firms, internship spots will be offered on a first-come-first-serve basis rather than chosen by participants.

37 King George in Tel Aviv, in apartment-style accommodations. Each unit will be a 2-bedroom or studio apartment with 3 participants, each in a separate bed, per room.

Will meals be provided?

On volunteer days pack-your-own-lunches will be provided as well as dinner before programming. You will be responsible for your own food outside when you are on your own and should come to Israel ready to spend some of your own money and support the local economy :).

How will I get to my volunteering?

You will be responsible for travel to volunteering locations within Tel Aviv, anytime that we leave the city as a group, for volunteering or other activities, FJL will provide busing.

Can I invite non-FJL alumni to join?

Yes, however we will limit the number of non-alumni to a small percentage of the overall group - acceptance will be first come first serve. Non-alumni will be interviewed.

Do I need to get my own health insurance for when i am in israel?

What is the meaning of life?

FJL will organize your health insurance for you and be in touch about the specifics once you join the trip.

Will there be free time?

Although the trip will be action-packed with meaningful experiences we know that you have all been to Israel before and want time to experience the country, so there will be free evenings and afternoons also.

What will we be doing over the weekend?

1-week program – Friday and Shabbat will be spent together
2-week program – One weekend will be spent together and the other weekend is free.

Can I extend my flight before or after the trip?

Yes, you will be booking your own flights and can pick your own dates.

What is the difference between the 1-week and 2-week program?

What is the meaning of life?

The 1-week program is built to give a full experience for young professionals that will need to take time off work to give back and experience different parts of Israeli society during these complex times.

The 2-week program will have more extended volunteering in the same location and will allow participants to create deep bonds with the people they are exposed to on the way, while also receiving a varied experience.

I want to come on more than one volunteer trip, is that possible?

You can participate on two volunteer trips but if you join one of our volunteer trips your second trip would also need to be with us. You can only recieve a flight subsidy for one flight.
